Homeless woman

"More Than Just Fabric": A Survivor’s Perspective
When you’re out here, you start to feel invisible. People look through you, not at you. But being a woman on the street... it’s a different kind of hard. You lose your sense of being a 'person' pretty fast when you don't have the basics.

Most people give us old coats or half-eaten sandwiches. And I’m grateful, don't get me wrong. But when Stars Never Die showed up, they didn't just give me a handout. They gave me a bag with brand-new underwear. A bra that actually fits. Real pads and wipes.

It sounds small to someone who has a dresser at home, but to me? It felt like putting my dignity back on. Having a clean pair of underwear makes me feel like I can walk into a clinic or a job center without being ashamed. Having a bra that supports me makes me feel like I’m a woman again, not just a 'homeless person.'

Jetaime and the team, they don’t look at us like we’re broken. They look at us like stars that just got lost in the dark for a minute. When they handed me those hygiene supplies, they weren't just giving me soap; they were telling me I’m worth being clean. They were telling me that even if the world turned its back, I’m still here. I’m still a woman. And I still matter."
